Hello! I'm Michelle

I was convinced I was born to teach high school English. Between 2007 - 2016 I ate, slept, and breathed all things teaching. Through an eye-opening, full-time teaching internship, I critically reflected on my skills, abilities, and passions, and I realized it was not the act of teaching English I enjoyed, rather the art of instruction.

After going through a professional identity crisis in May 2016, I've adopted a new approach to life: continuously seek experiences related to diverse types of instruction which provides valuable exposure to multiple career fields.

Do I know exactly the course my life will take? Of course not! At our core none of us really do. I am a firm believer in the phrase "you grow through what you go through"; no one ever stops professionally growing. Instead of resting on my laurels, I welcome all professional development experiences as I immerse myself in graduate coursework and explore potential careers as an Instructional Designer, Project Manager, or Leadership & Management Consultant.

I would love to connect and hear your career development journey! Please explore my social media pages
and reach out via mfuto@fsu.edu

Cheers!

Assistant Director, Mock Interviews and Employer Development

Employer Relations Team, FSU Career Center

As the Assistant Director for Mock Interviews and Employer Development, I coordinate the Mock Interview Program at Florida State University! This includes interviewing, hiring, training and professionally developing Mock Interview Mentors, or FSU students who provide mock interview sessions to their Seminole peers. Additionally, I recruit companies to work with the FSU Career Center and use our resources to identify top talent and fill their open roles.

Teaching Assistant

SDS3802: Experiential Recognition Program facilitated through the FSU Career Center

As the Teaching Assistant for SDS3802, designed for FSU students completing an experiential learning opportunity, I manage all aspects of the online course for 50+ students. This management includes creating our entire course and building all content from scratch in the learning management system, Canvas.

Additionally, I handle all student enrollment, facilitate student correspondence before, during, and after the course, and administer formative and summative assessments throughout each semester. I am the primary contact for students, staff, faculty, and supervisors who interact with SDS3802.

November 2016 - Present

Instructional Assistant

HFT4302: Integrated Marketing for Hospitality facilitated through the FSU Dedman School of Hospitality

As the Instructional Assistant for HFT4302 I create the writing curriculum for a 20-page Marketing Plan summative assessment assignment  for 90+ students. I work in conjunction with Dr. Nathaniel Line to provide writing rubrics, feedback, and critical thinking activities focused on improving the professional communication of graduating seniors. I manage academic idea sharing facilitated through Discussion Boards via the learning management system Blackboard, and will heavily assist with the Spring 2017 Canvas course migration.

August 2016 - May 2018

Program Assistant, Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning TeamFSU Career Center

The Experiential Learning Team believes that some of the most impactful and important learning happens outside the classroom; gaining real-world experience while in college is vital for students personal and career development. As the Program Assistant to the Experiential Learning Team I keep our 14+ Full-Time Professionals, 2 Graduate Assistants, and 2 Federal Work Study Students on the same page. This includes constant communication, the facilitation of idea sharing, and project management. I am also responsible for locating and sharing all types of experiential learning opportunities through our online job database SemionleLink powered by Handshake.

The Career Center transitioned the technology platform from Symplicity to Handshake in May 2017. As with any large technology transition, there have been many positives and numerous negatives. Due to my heightened technology proficiency and expert ability to communicate with all types of learners, my role has expanded to include providing troubleshooting support to all Career Center stakeholders such as students, staff & faculty, employers, and community members. Creating How-To guides, hosting workshops for student organizations, and providing top notch customer service via email, phone, and in-person has become standard in my daily work life. Good thing I love working with people!
